Behind the Feed collects only the information needed to provide the literary participation features you choose to use. This page explains what is collected, why it is used and the choices available to you.
Minimal data

Participation and public sharing are controlled by reader choices.
No advertising profile
No marketing or behavioural advertising profile is created.

Participation is optional.
You can explore Behind the Feed without submitting a reflection or providing an email address. Where a participation feature asks for additional information, the purpose of that information is explained at the point of submission.
Public sharing requires your explicit agreement. Any newsletter signup offered separately by the project would remain a separate choice.
What you submit
Reader reflections
If you choose to submit a reflection, we collect the display name and reflection you enter, your publication consent, and your email and contact choice if supplied. New reflections remain private while they await moderation.
A submission may be approved or rejected, and publication is never automatic or guaranteed. Where a reflection is published, only the display name and reflection you agreed to share may appear publicly. Email addresses are never published.

Email and contact choices
Email is optional on the reflection form. If you provide an email address and separately permit contact, it may be used to contact you about that reflection.
Providing an email address does not automatically add you to a newsletter or marketing list. Contact permission and publication consent remain separate choices.
Without a name or email
Anonymous participation
Some features, including reader dilemmas, work without asking for your name or email address. A browser token stored in an essential cookie helps prevent duplicate voting. It does not contain your name or email and may remain for up to one year.
Temporary anonymous request identifiers are also kept in server memory to reduce repeated or automated submissions. These controls are not used for advertising.
First party measurement
How we measure use
We record a small number of interactions to understand whether the literary experience is being used, including Book Club and print guide views, spoiler reveals, dilemma votes and submitted reflections.
These records contain the type and time of an interaction and may include a book or content reference. They do not contain an IP address, browser details, advertising identifier or reader profile. We do not use marketing cookies or external behavioural advertising tools.
After submission
Moderation and retention
Reflections may remain pending while they are reviewed. Approved reflections may remain published until they are removed, while rejected submissions may be retained for moderation and operation of the service.
Reflections and associated contact information remain stored for moderation and operation of the participation service unless they are deleted. You may ask for your reflection and associated contact information to be deleted.
Restricted access
Administration and security
Administrative tools used to moderate submissions and manage the literary programme are restricted to authorised access. Essential security and session cookies are used when an authorised administrator signs in; they are not part of ordinary reader browsing.
Reader information is not added to marketing systems or used for unrelated promotional purposes through the participation process.

Your information and your choices
You may contact the project to ask about information you have submitted, request access or correction, ask for deletion, or withdraw publication or contact consent where applicable.
Anonymous dilemma votes are not linked to a name or email address, so it may not be possible to identify an individual vote.
